There are many roles for which lighter-than-air can provide the solution. The key is to match the right craft to the task. Here are a few examples of how airships can be put to work:
Heavy-Lift Airships (HLA) for the transportation of cargo or large loadsTourism + sight-seeingAerial advertisingPhotography and filming workAirborne surveillance and homeland securityDelivering disaster relief and humanitarian aidScientific or environmental missions
For each of these there is a variety of operational options or approaches - from the big HLAs or Heavy Lift Airships capable of carry 20 to 50 tons, to the Zeppelin NTs with their rigid framework, the non-pressurised blimps, hot-air airships, small remote-controlled camera blimps, or tethered and free-balloons.
For a 'low-entry' airship there are the hot-air filled airships which have been demonstrated so successfully in various parts of the world on both promotional contracts and scientific missions. And at the other extreme cutting-edge designs combined with the latest lightweight materials and state-of-the-art electronics are creating a new generation of airships. These can transport large loads across the world, take aerial tourism to new heights, carry out sureveillance and security duities with unmatched endurance and loiter ability, or provide a stable platform for aerial surveying, mineral prospecting, mine detection and so on.
As recognised independent experts with contacts throught the worldwide lighter-than-air industry Airship Initiatives provides unbiased advice and/or practical operational capabilities. The possibilities are endless...
